Who we serve
For owners and earners whose tax bill has become a planning decision.
We work with a focused group of business owners, executives, and families whose federal liability is large enough, or whose next decision is significant enough, that a return alone no longer covers the job.
Our clients
Four situations we know well.
Most of our clients recognize themselves in one of these. Many sit in more than one, which is exactly why tax, entity, and investment decisions belong in the same plan.
01
Business owners with more than one entity
You own an operating company and at least one other entity: a holding company, a management company, a real estate LLC, or a partnership with other owners. Income moves between them, and each return is often prepared on its own.
Compensation that has not been revisited in years, entities that no longer match how the business earns money, and deductions one entity could use that another is leaving on the table. The returns are correct. The structure behind them is not.
We project the combined liability across every entity and the household, test the structure against how income actually flows, and adjust compensation, elections, and ownership so the whole picture is planned together, not one return at a time.
02
High earners with equity compensation
You are an executive or senior employee paid partly in RSUs, ISOs, or other equity, often alongside a high salary and bonus. Your withholding rarely matches what you actually owe.
Underwithholding on vesting shares, ISO exercises that trigger alternative minimum tax nobody modeled, and concentrated positions held longer than anyone intended because selling felt too expensive.
We map every vest, exercise, and sale against your projected liability before it happens, set estimated payments so April brings no surprises, and plan how to reduce concentration on a schedule that manages the tax.
03
Owners moving income into real estate
Your business produces more than it needs, and you are putting the excess into property: rentals, commercial buildings, or short term rentals. The goal is to turn operating income into assets that last.
Properties held in the wrong entity, depreciation taken on the default schedule when a cost segregation study would have accelerated it, and losses that cannot offset business income because material participation was never planned for.
We plan each acquisition before closing: which entity holds it, when a cost segregation study makes sense, and how the losses will be treated, so the real estate works with the tax plan instead of beside it.
04
People facing a sale or liquidity event
You are preparing to sell a business, a building, or a concentrated position, or you expect a large gain or a restructure in the next two years.
Deal terms negotiated before anyone modeled the tax, purchase price allocations that favor the buyer, and installment, charitable, or reinvestment options that disappear once the deal closes.
We model the transaction before terms are final, compare structures on an after tax basis, and coordinate with your attorney and wealth advisor so the proceeds are planned before they arrive.
Fit
Is Trinity the right firm for you?
The planning engagement is built for clients where the numbers justify the work. It is usually a fit when at least one of these is true.
- Your federal tax liability is above $100,000 a year.
- You own more than one entity, or hold real estate or investments alongside a business.
- You expect a sale, a large gain, or a restructure in the next 24 months.
Not there yet?
We still prepare individual and business returns, and Standing Advisory gives you an Enrolled Agent to call through the year. When your situation grows, the planning engagement will be ready for it.
